  • Capital News 9 crewmen work to set up the shot for morning reports, attempting to frame both the dock and Champlain Bridge in the background.<br /> <br /> This shot has not had its exposure modified to improve the view of the bridge. Instead, this show approximately what the bridge looked like with the naked eye. The view of the bridge only got worse as the anointed time drew near.
  • A couple of moorings on the Port Henry dock covered with a light dusting of morning snow. The snow would quickly build up, obscuring the view of the Bridge by 8:30.

  • This meta-photo was taken with my cell phone, showing how I protected my lens and camera from the elements. I used two gallon-size storage bags to cover the majority of the lens and camera body, cutting a small hole in the bottom of on bag and securing it to the end of my lens with tape, then using the second bag to extend over the body and securing it with tape as well. I could lift the opening of the rear bag when I needed to see to take shots or review images. Meanwhile, keeping the camera pointed down and lens hood attached kept the exposed optics of my lens clean and free of water the whole morning.

  • Only minutes before the implosion of the Champlain Bridge, children throw snowballs into Lake Champlain. The lake is slowly being covered with a layer of slush from falling snow that the lake is not warm enough to melt. There would be no relief for the public standing by to watch the bridge be demolished; the fog did not relent, and the landmark was demolished suddenly as a series of sharp, muffled booms resounded across the lake.
